Enrolment and Attendance Policy
- To enrol in Guru Nanak Punjabi School, a child must be 5 years old.
- Application forms for enrolment can be found on the school website under ‘Enrolment’ section via a link OR can be taken from the Allenby Gurdwara Sahib notice board.
- All new and existing students are required to fill up and submit the enrolment form every year before attending school.
- Enrolments are done twice a year. If you miss enrolling your child in January, you can do so in July.
- The enrolment fee is $50 per student for the year.
- Every student must have a school bag and bring their own stationery. These school bags can be purchased for $10 from the Gurdwara Sahib office.
Attendance
- Students must attend the school every Sunday from 10.00-12.00 during the term.
- Good attendance is always recommended for continued learning.
- 70% attendance is required to get certificates from Ethnic Board for attending Guru Nanak Punjabi School.
- A student who remains absent for four continuous weeks without informing the school will have their name taken off from the attendance register and re-enrolment will be required for the child to resume classes.
- Parents/caregivers are responsible for getting their children to and from school.
- Punctuality is important. All students should reach school by 10 am. If a student gets late due to unavoidable reasons, the school should be informed about the same.
- Students coming after 10:10 am will have to wait outside the class till the Paath (Gurbani Class) is over to avoid disruption.
- Parents are not allowed on the school grounds unless approved by the school administrator/principal.
What to bring to school
- School bag
- Stationary: pencil, eraser and a sharpener.
- Students should bring a scarf to cover their heads for the Gurbani class.
- Bringing water bottle is optional.
- No food is allowed.
Behaviour Policy
All the students are expected to behave in a respectful and responsible manner.
Inappropriate behaviour such as:
- Rough play
- Behaviours that are disrupting the learning of others
- Not following reasonable instructions given by teachers/parents
- Encouraging others to do the wrong things
- Not participating in class activities
Consequences of inappropriate behaviour
- Verbal warning
- Time out in classroom
- Student sent to office
- Contacting parents
Grievance Policy
Parents with a grievance should arrange a time to speak to the relevant teacher(s) and management about the problem. They can contact the school Principal, Mrs Tarvinder Kaur at kaur71t@yahoo.co.uk
It is not appropriate to approach other students and teachers regarding issues. Meetings to discuss grievances will be suspended if any person(s) behave in an insulting or offensive manner.
